Pinterest may one day be the death of me. I’m so addicted to finding DIY projects to try, from home decor/gardening to clothing/baby shoes and quilts. Don’t even get me going on storage and organization! lol
Okay, back to the point. I’ve been seeing a lot of (on Facebook and Pinterest) photos and sales of these extremely adorable Barefoot Baby Sandals. I finally decided it was time to make my sweet daughter a pair, especially since we basically have 9 months of pretty warm weather. I think they’re also perfect for little ones just learning to walk, barefoot is best so why not dress those cute toes up a bit?
Here are a couple of examples:
Aren’t they adorable?
First I found a tutorial on how to use the elastic to make the “sandal”. That part was easy especially since I have a bunch of infant elastic headbands that are too small for a toddler. The second part was more exciting for me because I love how it turned out. To make these, I found a flower template and cut it out a size I liked. I had to play around with my printer settings because the template was appearing too large. You can find the template as well as a tutorial on how to make fabric flowers here.
French poof flowers!
Aren’t they adorable? The first set I made were a little too big for my Barefoot Baby Sandals, but I will be able to make a barrettes or headbands with them. In case you are wondering, I made them with a flower shape and flannel fabric and only used 8 flowers.
